I pray yesterday’s content was meaningful to you. I’m also praying the story line of our Patriarch family is more understandable to you now. All the names, the setbacks, the blessings, are a lot to keep up with. I believe we will benefit from attempting to comprehend it all more clearly. After the scene in Genesis 32, Jacob proceeded on his journey to meet back up with Esau. Scripture makes it sound like the meeting happened immediately. Genesis 33:1 says, Jacob lifted his ey

What a chapter, right? If you didn’t quite finish yesterday, IT IS OK. Today, you can catch up. At least, read to page 82. We will cover scripture to that point today. The book of beginnings is so full of content. When we left off with Abraham, we were in Genesis 22, and that is where Abraham took Isaac up Mount Moriah to meet God, our Provider. In chapter 23 and 24 of Genesis, Sarah died, and Abraham began to search for a wife for Isaac. Rebecca was chosen, and in Genesis 25

This week is going to be full of family stories. As you read Angie's summary of the families of the Patriarchs, I hope you'll be as encouraged as I am that these are real life people with major real life problems. Clearly, God can do His work within dysfunctional families. Goodness.... I'm grateful! Read - Woven, chapter 5. We've been doing this a little while now, and I believe you probably know the drill. In your journal, write about anything that stands out to you. We will

    Serve, Share & Shine - Act 2

Saturday, June 26, 2021 Breast cancer: Sad when you hear about it. Horrific when you are told you have it. Have you ever thought to yourself, 'Cancer seems awful. I feel so bad for women who have breast cancer. I am sure it will never happen to me." Soul Sisters...as we move into ACT 2, let's "serve, share and shine" our hearts out for all the courageous cancer fighters who are battling this dreadful disease. I've asked a few cancer warriors for their insight as to what was h

Well, we've made it to another Friday after a rich week of study. I just love studying God's Word with you. Thank you so much for joining me here. This week, we touched on the people group that Hagar birthed through Ishmael, the wild donkey of a man. Angie informed us that these people currently live in modern day Iran. I've been led to share an interview that was conducted by Jennie Allen during the If Gathering this year. I am praying that God will use this interview to lea

Today, I want to write and write. I have so much to say about our topic, but I believe God wants to do personal work with each of us through Genesis 22. As a mother, this is a chapter of Scripture that I can never quite understand. Trying to feel the emotions that would have been felt in real life is almost too much to bear. It's also a chapter of Scripture that I'm incredibly grateful for. The picture of it all is a perfect demonstration and foreshadowing of the cross. So, t

Today, we are going backwards in scripture just for a moment. I want to spend a day talking about Hagar. We won't talk about her again. She isn't a name that continues on in the story of covenant. Abraham and Sarah are the father and mother of the group of people God chose to be a demonstration of His redemption. However, as we will see today, that doesn't mean Hagar wasn't also cared for by a loving Father. Read: Genesis 16: 1-13 I have such a soft spot in my heart for Hagar

Life is not fair! You’ve heard that before, right? I certainly have. Normally, I hear those words (or I speak those words) when I feel mistreatment. Life seems unfair when things just don’t go the way I feel they should have gone. Yesterday, though, we read from Genesis 12 and Genesis 15, and I was reminded that I don’t really want life to be fair. God’s covenant with Abraham (and also with us) isn’t fair. We get covenant love, protection, and provision even though we’ve done

Happy Monday, everyone. I hope you had a wonderful weekend and are ready for another great week of study. Read: Chapter 4 of Woven. Father Abraham joins us today. The chapter is full of information and details about his life and call. As you read Angie's words, use your journal to write questions, thoughts, and opinions about the material. Spend time in Genesis 12: 1-3 and Genesis 15. Notice the details of the covenant God made with Abraham. This week, I want us to look at sc

Soul Sisters Summer - Serve, Share, and Shine

As we "weave" our way through our summer book WOVEN, we'd like to "weave in" a handful of opportunities for Soul Sisters to serve, share and shine throughout the summer. As the second part of our mission statement reads, "*Our hope is that every women in this group will come to know Christ in such a way that His light will shine in them and through them for all the world to see!" * With that being said, every few weeks, there will be a weekend post/blog that will give you ide
