Woven

Our next chapter in Woven is fairly long. I'm not even complaining, because Angie Smith had to bring Jesus into the world in this one chapter. Of course, it is well-written and entertaining. I want you to have plenty of time to read her words, so I will be brief.

Today, I'd like for you to read only a portion of the chapter. We will read from Woven again tomorrow. As you read, though, I want you to really focus on the history that is being shared. We are reading about real people (like you and me) facing real problems and difficulty in their lives. Angie has done a wonderful job of walking us through the leadership changes during the time between Malachi and Matthew. If you'll allow yourself, you can probably admit that we feel some of the same tensions with our government today.

We lived through a time of Christendom. Christianity has been widely accepted and even provided for. Without a doubt, we have seen that come to an end. We don't need to fear and panic, though. As we'll see today, it's not the first time Believers have been marginalized and treated poorly. Within the chapter, Angie quoted Proverb 21:1, The King's heart is like channels of water in the hand of the Lord; He turns it wherever He wishes.

Oh, I hope these words bring you comfort and peace as you read this morning. God was in control then! He was patiently waiting for Jesus to enter the world and do what only He could do. God is in control now! As we read this week about the Promised Messiah coming to His people just as God through the Prophets had promised, let's be reminded that Jesus Himself told us He would come again. No weapon formed against us shall prosper.... (Is. 54:17)

As you read chapter 11 (only pages 181-193) of Woven, please allow the truths of God's Presence offer peace for any troubled spaces you're experiencing today.

God, thank you for the reminders that You are in control. We've learned of Your faithfulness. Today, we've been reminded that POWER also accompanies your commitment to us. There's not a person that has ever walked this Earth (aside from Jesus) that rivals your power and control. Since You are for us, please settle our hearts with the Truth that no one can win in the battle against us. In the end, we win. Help us to live like Your winners today. We have a Gospel to share, so keep us focused on sharing that Gospel through love, peace, and patient trust in Your return. Amen.
