Woven - Summer Study

Oh, girls. What does one do with a book like Judges in just a day? I've been staring at the book, looking through the judges, and frantically searching for what we could study.

I can't come up with anything better for us to do than to start with an overview of the entire book. It won't take you very long. Lay your Bible out in front of you and watch this video while you follow along with chapter titles.

Judges is a tragedy. It chronicles utter failure over and over again. What multiplies the sadness of it all is that it follows a book over perseverance and victory that just don't last. If you're anything like me, you can sympathize with the Israelite's cycle of failure. It provides even more evidence of the goodness of God. Often, He has to step back and let us spiral into failure so that we will earnestly seek Him again. He's always ready to restore.

I want to offer space for the Holy Spirit to do in each of you what He wants through today's study. So, take out your journal and talk with the Lord. What is He teaching you through the failures that Judges records? What do you learn about the character of God from Judges?

End your study today with precious reading in the book of Ruth. Angie talked about Ruth's connection to Rahab, and that is a great detail to point out. But, the entire book of Ruth is a precious story. I believe you will benefit from a slow read through the four chapters. I recommend reading from The Message, because it will read like a story.

Offer your personal prayer of thanksgiving for our Kinsman Redeemer, Jesus. All of us continue to spiral in the same struggles that Israel faced. In good times, we relax and become passive. Then, we turn to ourselves and open the door to sin. Consequences take over until God has to act and rescue. Then, we turn back to Him, and the whole thing starts again. Thank God for Jesus. He's already offered the payment for it all. Rest in Him today, Soul Sisters.
