Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy…. These are the books we’ve covered so far. Can you believe it?
Last week, we ended with Moses’ death. He was buried by God before Israel made it to the Promised Land. I’m so thankful that Angie pointed out that while Moses missing out on Canaan was a consequence for disobedience, he still got the better end of the deal. I mean, I don’t imagine Moses stepped into Heave, saw Jesus, and then thought, “Man, I sure wish I could cross the Jordan and fight more battles.”
Our God is gracious and merciful. After a long life of courageous leadership, Moses got to enter eternal freedom and rest. First, he tagged Joshua as Israel’s new leader.
I’m really excited about this week’s reading. The book of Joshua is special for me. To say it's action packed is a huge understatement.
To begin, read chapter 8 of Woven.
Also, read chapter 1 of Joshua and journal any thoughts you have about this portion of the story. We will spend the rest of the week looking at scriptures in Joshua and Judges. For today, let’s focus on our chapter in Woven and chapter 1 of Joshua.
Father God, lead us today. I pray we’ve all grown attached to Your people in Scripture. I hope we are starting to see ourselves in them. We know that Joshua is full of hard-fought battles. Your people obeyed, and You were faithful throughout. In each of our stories, we all have a part to play in obedience, and we can trust that You will be faithful to Your promises. Strengthen us by Your Word today.
