Welcome, sisters. I’m so glad you’re joining me for this summer’s study. It seems like a lofty goal that we are going to tackle an overview of the Bible within these summer months. I pray you’ve gotten your book, Woven (Angie Smith), and have read through the introduction and chapter 1. If you haven’t, do not fear! You have time to catch up.

Before we begin, would you take time to pray on your own? We are offering this study for the group. However, your time of study is between you and God. Talk to Him right now about your hopes. Ask Him to help you remain focused and committed for the duration.

Go ahead. I will wait right here. Your prayer time is important. :)

Now, if you and God have determined that this is the study for you this summer, I want to ask you to do one more thing. Turn to page 14 and 15 in your Woven book and take a look at all of the images. Those little icons tell the story of the Bible from start to finish. When we reach the very end, you’ll be able to trace through each image and speak the story of the Bible all the way through. The key is reaching the end. Perseverance will be important. As a way to make this commitment very personal, I would like for you to write the words, “I’m committed,!” underneath all of the tiny pictures and sign your name. I have found that signing contracts with myself helps me to follow through with the important things in my life. Let your signature be a binding reminder of a gift you’re giving yourself…. time in God’s Word.

Read: Woven, chapters 1 & 2

Journal: Take a few moments to write out any questions you have about the content of this chapter. If Angie helped you to see any part of Genesis 1 through 3 in a new way, write about it in your journal. If you have questions about something she said or where these facts are found in scripture, write about that. Your journal is your journal. I want you to fill it up with personal entries between you and God this summer.

Personal Prayer: (write your own in your journal OR in our comments below. I'm including mine for you here.)

Creator God, You are incredibly powerful. You spoke and the entire world sprang forth out of nothing. I am so excited about what You are going to teach me this summer. Thank you for inviting me into this very unique and personal dive into Your Holy Word. I’m opening up my hands to receive all that You have planned for me during this study. I don’t want to miss any gift You have for me. Amen.
