Who Led You the the Lord?

Thursday, April 29, 2021 Who led you to the Lord? Paige Roberts

John 14:23 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them , and we will come to them and make our home with them.

Growing up in the South, I was taught from an early age that there was a God and he had a son named Jesus. I remember going to church because that is what good southern families do. In our house , there was not much love and to gain approval you had to look or act a certain way. My life was a mess. I was looking for love in all the wrong things. I experimented with sex, alcohol, drugs. I was bulimic starting at age 16 and this season in my life lasted for many years. I lived a life of shame and guilt over all my mistakes. I was big on asking God to fix me or my life. When I was 21, I met my husband Danny and I thought all my problems would be behind me. Finally someone to love and to love me. We have been married for almost 39 years. We lived a life that revolved around us. We moved several times and each time I thought the change in geography or the new job or my promises would change my life. It was very evident that something was missing in my and our life.

In December 2010, my Mom died and I joined Facebook. I looked for people I went to High School with and found a few. In January 2011, my best friend from HS contacted me. Her name was Debbie Jones Thorton. I had not talked to her in over 30 plus years. Debbie said that the Lord wanted her to come to Alaska ASAP. It was February and no one comes to Alaska in February(alot of snow, ice, and cold). February 2011, Debbie flew into Anchorage and our time together was God in Action. Her obedience was full of action. We talked and laughed about life, but JESUS was the main focus in our talks. Debbie gave me my first Bible at 50. Over the next 2.5 years, we visited each other and continued our conversations about Jesus. On one visit to Flowood, MS, I really knew that I wanted a relationship with Jesus Christ. I finally knew that Jesus was the only thing that could fill the Hole in my heart. Heading back to Anchorage via Dallas, I stopped in the airport chapel and picked up the free book of John. As I read the scriptures, I really knew for sure that Jesus was knocking and I was ready to let him into my heart.(November 1,2014) I have not looked back since.

Since then, I have been loved on and mentored by many Jesus loving brothers and sisters. My husband, Danny, was saved December 2015. I am blessed beyond measure. Jesus Christ gave me children and grandchildren and so many sisters and brothers. I have continued studying and learning about Jesus Christ and love to share just how good he is with others. My walk is not perfect, but with each step in obedience, I feel the presence of Jesus.

Thank you Lord Jesus for continually seeking us out, for not giving up on us when we give up on ourselves. Thank you for all the brothers and sisters who are obedient to speak of you and your love. Please help each of us to be obedient to your commands, so we can be the light for others.
