Thankful Hearts

Week 3 Focus: Various Blessings

Today, I am thankful for … FREEDOM.

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” Galatians 5:1

It is because of Christ that we are free. He has given us freedom from the bondage of sin and freedom of choices. It is because of Him that we can love others the way that He loved. As we live out our life of freedom, we must walk in faith and by making good choices. I honestly remember telling my high school boys, “Be sure to make good choices” as I said good-bye no matter where they went. It’s true for us as adults too…make good choices!

We should always seek God’s counsel and pray for wisdom, which He gives freely to those who ask. His word promises us that “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5.

God’s gracious gift of freedom surrounds us in many ways.

Here are some of the examples of freedom that I am praising Him for today:

· Freedom to freely worship and read the Bible

· Freedom to live by faith

· Freedom from bondage to sin

· Freedom to serve others in love

· Freedom of speech

· Freedom to vote for leaders

· Freedom to GO…. wherever we feel led

· Freedom to make choices, the small things and the big

Heavenly Father,

You are our Creator and Counselor. We are not only thankful for the freedom you give your children, but also for guiding us daily to make wise decisions. Thank you for saving us from bondage of sin. Let us never forget that it is because of you that we live. Today, help us to use the freedom you give us all for your glory. In your son’s name we pray. Amen
