Week 2 Focus: The Five Senses

Today, I am thankful for … the sense of TASTE. 👅

If you were to climb to the top of a ladder and look down on the top of the door-facing leading into my kitchen you would see written in black sharpie the words from Psalm 34:8 … “Taste and see that the Lord is good.” ✝️🥄

Every time I read or hear this verse it reminds me of being a child. It seemed as if adults were always trying to persuade me into trying a new food. “Try it, you’ll like it.” “Just one bite!” “You’re missing out.”

I am here to tell you that there was nothing that someone could have said to me when I was a little girl that would have convinced me to try a food that I didn’t want to eat.🧅🥦🦪

Even now, as an adult who likes almost everything, as long as it doesn’t have onions in it, I am still reluctant to taste new foods based upon what someone “says”. But if I SEE it and it LOOKS tasty, well…that makes me want to taste and it and decide for myself if it is as good as it looks.

As you know, this week’s posts are meant to show gratitude for our five senses….and mine today is “taste”. And let me tell you, Sister – I am so very thankful for the sense of TASTE. I L❤️VE food and even consider myself quite a foodie. There are very few things that I love more than sharing a delicious meal 🥗 🍝🥩🍤with some of my favorite people – especially if it is followed by a decadent chocolate dessert.🥧🍨

So, I DO want to pose the question –What foods are you grateful that you get to taste, eat, and enjoy because they are just so good?

But I want to end with a deeper thought about “TASTE”. Perhaps we should remember that it’s not the things we say about how great God is that will entice people to want to pull up a seat at His table…partake, but it’s the way we live out our lives that shows them how good life is with Jesus. And when they SEE how appetizing it looks, perhaps that person may want to taste it for themselves!

Today, I challenge all of us to take a checkup from the neck up…How appealing does your faith walk look? Does it look more like onions or chocolate? 🧅🍫
