Thankful Hearts

Week 3 Focus: Various Blessings

Today, I am thankful for … my QUIET TIME SPOT.

“But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.” Luke 5:16

In a world that is full of stimulation and noise, finding a place that is quiet is challenging and probably underrated by most. It seems to go against what the world says about what a productive human does. If we are not busy multi-tasking , then we are slacking. Seems like we are bombarded with thoughts of doing more and doing it better than before if we just put forth more effort. That makes this above scripture so sweet . Even Jesus needed “time out “. He went to places alone to take it “all” to his Father. This is a far more powerful example of how to live than what the world is telling us. What I have discovered , my MOST productive days are those that begin with a quiet time to focus on the Lord and what He has for me for that day. This is time where I can get to know our God. The way we get to know anyone is by spending time with them. The way God speaks to us is through scripture and the way we communicate with him is prayer. This is what makes this time so special. It’s investing in the most important relationship we have.

I have gone through periods of having a specific place and time frame to be quiet and I’ve been through seasons that it just looks different and happens less often. What I have learned is that things work better in my life when I take the time needed to sit still and meet the Lord in that stillness. I have several spots in my house where I do this . I also find being in the car alone is a great time to commune with the Lord in prayer. The place for me varies. The important thing for me is to remember to Just Do iI! The Lord does not have office hours and is available as often and as long we want. It doesn't matter where we meet him or how we look. He never tires of hearing from us and even says for us to knock and keep knocking.

Today , no matter where you do it , let’s take a time out and sit with the Lord in gratitude. Be grateful for that special place you go to be alone with the One you will spend eternity with.

Exploring Scripture: Psalm 84:1-2;1 Kings 17:2-6

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for always showing up no matter where or when. How sweet you are to allow us to choose the time and place for us to meet. We are grateful for our quiet times where we can” tank up” on your Word. Help each one of us to make it a daily priority to meet with you in a quiet space so we can grow deeper and deeper in relationship with you . Amen
