Week 1 Focus: Relationships

Today, I am thankful for relationships with MENTORS.

"I will give you shepherds who are loyal to me, and they will shepherd you with knowledge and skill." Jeremiah 3:15

I know you just read Jeremiah's words, but I want you to pause and read them again. "I will give you shepherds who are loyal to me, and they will shepherd you with knowledge and skill." God's plan from the beginning of time has been that we would seek Him and then share Him.

I would not be the person I am today if it was not for the mentors I have in my life.... ladies who see God's goodness for their own lives and then share His goodness with me in a way that blesses my life.

Have you invited spiritually mature women into your life? Have you given them permission to speak truth and wisdom into your life? Please read Jeremiah's words in the Message paraphrase,

"I'll give you good shepherd-rulers who rule my way, who rule you with intelligence and wisdom."

If intelligence and wisdom are being handed out, I want some! I'm convinced that God gives intelligence but wisdom is gained through experience, time spent on this earth. As long as I live, I will look for women who are more experienced than I am to share their wisdom with me. If you haven't made this a practice yet, I want to encourage you to start today.

Consider all the different aspects of your life; marriage, family, work, friendship, financial, etc. I wonder how our lives could be transformed if we looked for successful women in all the areas of our lives and asked them to speak into our lives.

Today, I want to encourage you with a challenge. If you have a mentor that has significantly impacted your life, tell her! Thank her! She has chosen to offer you the blessing of her sacrifice. What a gift!

If you can't think of someone to write that letter to, take some moments to ask God to highlight a woman that could serve as your mentor. Pray that He would make this connection. I'm so thankful for my mentors. I'm so thankful they have never needed me to have myself all figured out. I'm so thankful for the genuine love they've shown me. Don't you want to experience this kind of relationship too?

Exploring Scripture: 1 Timothy 1:1-2; Titus 2:3-5

God, thank you for mentors. Thank you for redeeming our circumstances by allowing us the opportunity to use our mistakes to make life sweeter for those coming behind us. I pray we will all take time to look at our lives and search for adjustments that need to be made. You didn't create a system where we have to walk alone. So, wake us up and help us find partners. Amen.
