Songs for the Season -- Day 5

You're Here - Francesca Battistelli

Luke 1:46-55

And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant. For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed; for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name. And his mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation. He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts; he has brought down the mighty from their thrones and exalted those of humble estate; he has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his offspring forever.”

Lyrics:

Hold on now, I gotta take a deep breath I don't know what to say when I look in your eyes You made the world before I was born Here I am holding you in my arms tonight

Noel, noel, Jesus our Emmanuel

You're here, I'm holding you so near I'm starring into the face of my saviour, king and creator You could've left us on our own, but you're here

Don't know how long I'm gonna have you for But I'll be watching when you change the world I look at your hand, they're still so small Someday you're going to stretch them out and save us all

Noel, noel, God with us Emmanuel

God, the more life I experience the more grateful I am that You sent Jesus to be HERE with us. While I can't imagine what it was like for Mary to hold her baby in her arms all the while knowing she had been entrusted with the Savior of the world, I do know what it feels like to suddenly realize that Jesus is present right here and now, with us int he middle of the mess. What a gift! My prayer for us this season is that we won't miss out on Your presence. Don't let us get so busy that we don't see the evidence of Your presence with us in all of our moments. I pray that our experiences this month cause us to proclaim as Job did, "My ears have heard of you but now my eyes have seen you. (Job 42:5).
