Remembering God's Provision

“Sweet friendships refresh the soul and awaken our hearts with joy, for good friends are like the anointing oil that yields the fragrant incense of God’s presence. So never give up on a friend or abandon a friend of your father for in the day of your brokenness you won’t have to run to a relative for help. A friend nearby is better than a relative far away.” Proverbs 27:9-10 (TPT)

In a group like this one, I think it goes without saying that we are thankful for our friends. Friendship is a gift from God, and I am thankful for it.

This week, though, we are thanking specifically for His instruction. I have learned a TON from my friends. They teach me with their lives, and they teach me with their words. My life has been affected and transformed by my friends in many ways. Often, I believe their input in my life was a direct gift from God. He has loved me, cared for me, and instructed me through my friends.

God is ENOUGH! Jesus is the Friend that sticks closer than a brother. And I believe God knew there would be times we’d NEED flesh and blood relationships to spur us on to life and ministry. Today, remember God’s provision through your friends and express gratitude.

Our Father, we have chosen to spend some time remembering You, Your care, Your instruction, and Your invitations. Where would we be without You? When we take time to pause and remember who You are to us, what You’ve done for us, and how You’re always inviting us into more, we can’t help but give thanks. Keep on caring, teaching, and inviting, because we don’t want to miss out on abundant life with You. Since You are always giving, we promise to remember. Amen.
