Music and the Messiah

Day 9

Philippians 2: 5-8

…Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men…he humbled himself…

2 Corinthians 5:21

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

2 Corinthians 8:9

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.

How Many Kings – Downhere

Follow the star to a place unexpected Would you believe after all we've projected A child in a manger? Lowly and small, the weakest of all Unlikeliest hero, wrapped in his mother's shawl Just a child, is this who we've waited for?

'Cause how many kings stepped down from their thrones? How many lords have abandoned their homes? How many greats have become the least for me? And how many gods have poured out their hearts To romance a world that has torn all apart? How many fathers gave up their sons for me?

Bringing our gifts for the newborn Savior All that we have, whether costly or meek Because we believe Gold for His honor and frankincense for His pleasure And myrrh for the cross He'll suffer Do you believe? Is this who we've waited for? (Is this who we've waited for?)

How many kings stepped down from their thrones? How many lords have abandoned their homes? How many greats have become the least for me? And how many gods have poured out their hearts To romance a world that has torn all apart?

How many fathers gave up their sons for me?

Dear Lord, as we read/listen to the lyrics of this song may we all stand in awe of how truly great You are. What You’ve done for us through Jesus…well, Lord, that kind of love is unfathomable. Forgive us Father when we get distracted during this holiday season by “getting our lists checked off” that we forget that YOU are the REASON for the SEASON! We are so thankful for Jesus and His birth in that lowly manger. I pray, Lord, for every Soul Sister in this group to be blessed by You today. Show up and show out allowing us all to feel Your presence in all that we do. Use us today, Father to be a blessing to someone in need. Use us BIG or use us little, just use us for your purpose. In Jesus’ name and for the Father’s glory, Amen.
