Jesus: King of Mankind
Focus: Jesus leaves heaven and enters Mary’s womb.
Today’s verses:
Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call Immanuel.
Luke 1:30-33 And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will name Him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David; and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever; and his kingdom will have no end.”
Hebrews 4:14 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
Post/Question:
Last week we discussed Jesus was King: eternal, of glory, of creation, of the heavens and earth , and of righteousness. It overwhelms me to think the King of all these powerful things could become a tiny cell inside the womb of an average woman, grow to a full term pregnancy, and be born an infant. If you have ever had a baby or have cared for one, you know just how small, helpless, and dependent these little creatures are and how they are at the complete mercy of their imperfect human caregivers. It’s hard for me to picture our Jesus, King of all mankind, in this way. Isn’t it interesting that the One who can simultaneously care for everyone in the world chose to be a baby who was completely dependent on those He came to save?
In light of all that was discussed about Jesus’ divine nature over this past week, what new insights do you have concerning the King’s entry into Mary’s womb?

King Jesus,
Continue to grow our understanding of who You have always been, how You came to earth, and the journey You took to the cross. Help us to ponder the scriptures provided daily and stimulate thoughts in our mind that will teach us something new about You. Today, we humble ourselves before You and marvel at how Your earthly journey began. Only You , Jesus, would love us enough to come to earth to take on all the sins of the world and die a gruesome death on our behalf. Be with each sister today as we walk in your footsteps on this journey. Amen
