"Looking for Lovely"

Oh, girls! I opened my book this morning and realized how little we have left. Since the day I became “a reader,” I realized that it is a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad feeling to come to the end of a good book. (Elementary teachers, I threw in those adjectives in that particular order just for you.)

So, join me in my joy-filled sorrow and open your books to the next chapter, “Gardens,” and enjoy!

On this last day of July 2023, take a walk and simply look around! Don’t overthink and please don’t try to force something lovely. Just BE with the Lord.

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” Ecclesiastes 3:11, NIV

“True, God made everything beautiful in itself and it its time – but he’s left us in the dark, so we can never know what God is up to, whether he’s coming or going.” MSG

God will make everything lovely in His time, because this is all His story. He just doesn’t let us in on every detail. Why, God? Why?

He doesn’t let us in on every detail, because we wouldn’t understand it. It’s not our time, yet. BUT, when we have some history with God, we learn some helpful things.

We learn to trust that His actions towards us are always kind even when they don’t feel like it, because He is kind.

We learn that He will work all things together for good even when we can’t see how, because He is a good God.

We learn to look for the lovely even in the broken, because His ways are beautiful. He writes lovely stories.

Even though it’s hot, take that walk. Talk to God. Get away with Him and share your heart. Be sure to take some time to listen to His too.

God, I don’t want this journey to end. I’m thankful it doesn’t have to. Even though we will turn the last page of “Looking for Lovely,” I pray that we have only begun to look for Your lovely prints in every day, every relationship, every moment, and every situation. Amen.
