Worship Wednesday

Luke 24:13-15 focuses on two followers of Jesus who were traveling from Jerusalem to Emmaus on the day Jesus rose again. They were walking and talking, most likely about the past few days and everything that their precious Rabbi had gone through.

Don’t you know that their journey was better for them individually because they were on the path together? Life's just better with people!

One of my favorite sayings about relationships is this, “People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime.”

And although we don’t know much about these two that walked with Jesus, I am sure that, at least by the end of the journey, they were bonded for a lifetime. Jesus does that, doesn’t He? He bonds us with people in a way that time and distance can’t divide.

Psalm 95:6-7 speaks to relationships and worship...two of our focuses for today, "Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care."

Notice how the Psalmist uses the pronouns “us” and “we”. This passage reminds us how important it is to come together and worship the Lord.

So today, on this Worship Wednesday, I’m praising God for the people in my life. I’m praising Him for you as well, my Soul Sisters. And this worship song, an oldie - but a goodie, is playing in my earbuds now. Its chorus, "Friends are friends forever if the Lord’s the Lord of them," always brings sweet tears of gratefulness to my eyes for the treasured the relationships He has blessed me with. https://youtu.be/SAeD2UEYaAk

Do you have a song that reminds you of the importance of doing life with others? I’d love it if you’d share.

Jesus, thank you for journeying with us. Sometimes we don't recognize You, but we believe You are here. There are times when we are sad, disappointed, and even a little lost in this world, because the expectations of our humanity get in the way. When You make yourself very evident, though, our hearts burn within us. Will you help us to recognize that and trust it. Your presence can make us brave. Today, we commit ourselves to You. We want to be transformed by Your presence in our lives and Your power in our bodies. We belong to You, and that Truth makes us glad. Amen.
