Journey of Prayer: Day 31

Journey of Prayer

Day 31

Monday, February 15, 2021

For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him is all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light. Colossians 1: 9-12

In our focus verse, Paul is giving the Colossians very specific instruction on what God wants for them (and us). This passage is packed with all the “good stuff “ and I love how Chris breaks it down step by step to help us better understand. In this passage Paul is saying that accumulation of knowledge is a good thing . However, he points out that knowledge in itself is empty. To be worth anything it must lead to a change of heart and right living. He wanted the Colossians to be wise , but he also wanted them to use their knowledge. These are such good words for us to hear. The knowledge of God is open for everyone to discover . God’s desire is for us to learn more about Him AND put this knowledge into play. We are to share what we know of Him with others. A very simple way to look at it is to learn what is right and go do what is right. So simple for me to write that sentence yet sometimes so hard to do!

I also love Chris’s suggestion to pray these specifics over yourself and others. Do you take time to pray specifics like these over yourself? If I’m honest, I don't do it nearly enough, yet I want ALL these good things. I’m intentionally going to end my post here by asking you to take time today to pray a prayer over yourself as well as each one of your people on your list. Make your prayer however you feel lead but for today, consider each one of these points listed when you pray:

  1. To be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding

  2. To live worthy of the Lord

  3. To bear fruit in every good work

  4. To increase in the knowledge of God

  5. To be strengthened with all God’s power

  6. To joyfully give thanks

Dear God of Wisdom and Understanding,

Oh how You love me and want what is best for my life. Please Lord, fill me today with the knowledge and wisdom of what Your will for me is and align my will to Yours. I pray, Lord, to live a life worthy of my Creator. Please help me to bear good fruit as I go about my life and Lord, help increase my knowledge of You. Please give me strength that can come from only You . I ask that You will give me eyes to see even the tiniest gift and a heart that is grateful for every thing big and small. Thank You for being my Savior. In Your name I pray, Amen..
