Journey of Prayer --Day 13

And answering (Bartimaeus), Jesus said to him, ‘What do you want Me to do for you?” And the blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, I want to regain my sight!” And Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he recovered his sight and followed Him on the way. Mark 10:52

For the full story please read Mark 10:46-52.

As we saw in our post yesterday, Jesus asked James and John, "What do you want me to do for you?" The disciples gave their request and Jesus answered appropriately, knowing that a "no" at this moment in time was grooming them for His greater kingdom purposes. When looking at the gospels, we can fully agree that God was by no means finished with these two young men.(He Is not finished with us either!).

Now, today, He asks the blind Bartimeaus the very same question, "What do you want me to do for you?". And again, Jesus responds appropriately, and Bartimeaus is granted his sight.

Trust that Jesus is gracious with our "asks", no matter the answer! He sorts out our hearts as we bring all our requests to him. He grows us up as we continually walk and talk with him. So keep asking, knowing that in this process he is molding your heart to beat like his--there is nothing greater.

When looking at today's passage, I’ve decided I want to be like Bartimaeus, both before and after he received his physical sight. I want a persistent, dependent, kingdom perspective faith. I want to boldly cry out to my Savior.

Here's our challenge:

Let’s see ourselves on the road alongside of Bartimaeus. The King of kings is about to pass by. In our hearts (or out loud), let’s shout with the same fervor as our blind friend. Jesus is listening. He can’t help but stop and hear the voices of His children. He wants to answer cries that are accompanied with complete assurance and unswerving allegiance.

So when He calls you to His side, jump up and run to Him. Then, like Bartimaeus, hear Him ask,

“What do you want Me to do for you?” Tell Him.

Then fully trust the Messiah to give you His kingdom answer.

Dear Lord,

Please plant deep rooted faith into my heart. Cause me to cry out to You for mercy, believing that You will stop and listen. When I stand before You, I ask You to give me, and those whom I love, Your eyes to see. Amen
