Give us this day our daily bread… Matthew 6:11

Before I get this post underway, I wanted to say a very sincere thank you to each one of you for participating my devotional, Forty Day Journey of Prayer. I've been keeping y'all in my heart, lifting you up to the Lord for quite some time now. I consider Soul Sisters as close family; it's a sweet and special place for me to share my writings. So again, thank you.

Now, considering today's entry in the devotional, which focuses on the third line of the Lord's Prayer, "Give us this day our daily bread," I want to give an update on my prayer request I mentioned concerning my now almost 28 year old son Bink.

My BIG prayer requests for him when I wrote this devotional almost 2 years ago was that he would find a "Jesus lovin' wife." Guess what? Bink is still single. Is it still my heart's desire for him to be married? Oh yes. And have I been praying for him (and his future spouse) every day since that time? Absolutely. I'm still waiting... and praying...and trusting God to provide in his perfect time.

Here is the thing: While I've been praying for this BIG thing to happen, God has and still is answering my other prayer that I mentioned about the daily "grooming and growing" of my son's character. Over time, very slowly, God has done a great work in him. He would personally tell you that he had put himself on a fast track with work as well as a mile-long-list of other ego-boosting-projects, almost spinning out of control. This intense lifestyle, he has admitted, kept him from facing some deep and not-so-pretty truths about himself. His coping mechanisms were not healthy. But then, Covid hit, and every aspect of his life stopped. This "being still" forced him to take a true look at himself, which was followed by, in his words, a "desperation for something different." From this emotional state, a friend of his suggested a marvelous mentoring program...and Bink's "grooming and growing" moved into a deeper, richer, more rewarding level. The process hasn't been easy, but the outcome has been transformational. Today, he is more honest with God, with himself, and a much better friend to others.

My point in sharing this update is this: keep persevering in prayer. Believe God hears your BIG prayers, and also believe that he will give what is necessary (his "daily bread") to move you progressively forward. Trust the Lord in the day to day, step by step process.

I know this for sure, Bink is much more suited today to love a (potential future) wife than he was 2 years ago, and that is a GOOD thing!! And guess what, ya'll! Less than a month ago, he met cute young blonde who loves Jesus! It's looking like "boy is liking girl, and vise versa"! I won't ramble on about this potential someone that I haven't even met, but I can tell you that I am certainly smiling as I write this post.

God's timing, God's grooming, God's growing, God's blessing.

Soul Sisters, in the waiting pray, "Give us this day our daily bread".

Dear Lord our Provider,

Please help us to trust that you are at work underground in hidden, but hopeful ways. Help us to water this certain movement with our faith-filled prayers. Give us patience as we watch you daily give, daily groom and daily grow our loved ones in ways that are far better than we could imagine. In your name. Amen
