Day 2 - Forty Day Journey of Prayer

Day 2

Tuesday, January 5, 2021

Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10

Moving into a new year gives us the opportunity to have a fresh start in so many ways. A fresh start with our exercise regimen, eating habits, volunteer commitments, Bible reading, organization and decluttering, efforts to stay connected to friends and family, etc.

Let’s also take the opportunity to take a fresh start on our prayer habits. Now is the time to pray in BIG and BOLD ways…like never before!! Talk to God with deep passion and perseverance.

Let God see how desperately you want your heart’s desires to be His AND acknowledge that you want these prayers filled…all according to His will. It’s not a “wish” list we are creating. Our prayers need to line up with God’s will. There should be no selfish gain or worldly motives involved. In the Bible it says, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us” (1 John 5:14).

God already knows your every need. He knows your heart. He wants to hear you call out to Him. God tells us in Matthew 6:8, “Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” But in the next verses He tells us to pray for our needs as outlined in the Lord’s prayer. Then, in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 God commands us to pray continually. We need to pray to our Father and ask our heart’s desires…and be sure to keep praying.

So, today when you write out your prayer list and pray boldly to our King of Glory be sure to pray, “Your kingdom come, your will be done.”

King of Glory,

As we bring our prayer lists to you today, please let the Holy Spirit confirm that our hearts’ desires are yours. For we know your plans are greater than ours and we ask that your will be done. Thank you, God for allowing us to walk these 40 days of deep prayer time together. We are learning that bold prayer requests require faith and that faith pleases You!

In your son’s name we pray.

Amen
