Christmas Devotional

Why did Jesus come?

Jesus came to give us his Holy Spirit

Jesus said, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, that he may be with you forever.” John 14:15-16

Jesus said, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask?” Luke 11:13

And if Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, the spirit is alive because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who indwells you. Romans 8:10-11

Jesus said, “He (the Holy Spirit) will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you.” John 16:14

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Galatians 5:22-23

My Child,

I came to give you my Sprit. The reason I lived, died, and rose again was so that I could then dwell inside you. My Spirit will guide you, help you, and comfort you. You cannot keep my commandments on your own; it is my Spirit that will enable you to do what I ask. Let me abide in you, so you can walk in assurance moment by moment as you listen to my words of truth.

Immanuel

Jesus is Alive - Josh Wilson

Dear Lord,

Thank you for the best gift ever! It is with the Holy Spirit that we are able to see the world through your eyes; and then go out into the world with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. What a blessing to have the Holy Spirit at work in our lives, for God’s glory, for the good of others, and all for your purpose. Thanks be to you for this great powerful and mighty gift! Amen
