Who is this Jesus?

Jesus is the Redeemer

"(Christ Jesus) gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for himself a people for his own possession, zealous for good works." Titus 2:14

"Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us, for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree.” He redeemed us in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith." Galatians 3:13-14

"And as for me, I know that me Redeemer lives…" Job 19:25

"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name…who redeems your life from the pit; who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion." Psalm 103:1,4

"Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine!" Isaiah 43:1

My Child,

I am your Redeemer. I paid your ransom with my life so that you could be set free from sin and death. It was my life for yours. Remember the good news—I rose again from the dead in order to give you my Spirit. I am calling your name; let me redeem you. I can make beauty from ashes (Isaiah 61:3).

Immanuel

Heavenly Father,

Every year, Christmas reminds me that sin, brokenness, and failure don't scare You. You sent Jesus in the most fragile of forms into an extremely terrifying environment to show us that You will always choose to be with us in our humanity. Our job isn't to fix our situation. Our job is to give you our brokenness because You are redeeming. You are making all things new. In Christ, You are making beauty from the broken. Thank you! We worship You today. Amen.
