Why did Jesus come?

Jesus came to give us comfort.

I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. John 14:18

Jesus said, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” Matthew 5:4

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4

The Lord is near the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous; but the Lord delivers him out of them all. Psalm 34:18-19

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; he has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted…to comfort all who mourn, to grant those who mourn in Zion, give them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified. Isaiah 61:1-3

My Child,

I come to give you comfort. Your afflictions will not go unnoticed by Me. I too was afflicted, so I understand. Be convinced that I am present with you in your trial, and I will hold your hand each step of the way until you reach the other side. In the meantime, hear Me whisper words of encouragement and peace. Let my words of truth bind up your broken heart.

Immanuel

Dear Lord,

Thank you for wrapping your loving arms around me and being my source of comfort. When I am faced with afflictions, mourn, suffer a broken heart or walk through valleys I will trust that you are holding my hand and lifting me up to get through these difficult times. I am claiming your promise that you will never leave me nor forsake me. You came to bring comfort and I am forever grateful!! Amen
