ACTS: A Way to Pray

Isaiah 57: 15

For this says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite.

Adoration:

Dear Heavenly Father, You are the High and Exalted One! You are the one whose name is Holy and lives forever and ever. You are as gracious as you are holy, You are the One that revives my fainting soul and troubled heart. I never stop being amazed at how you save and comfort me and dwell within my heart.

Confession:

I confess that I do not always have a “contrite and lowly” disposition, but rather, it can be full of pride, anger and frustration. I do not always obey when the Holy Spirit nudges me to help or serve others. I often doubt, second guess and try to do it on my time and my terms verses yours. I know that your peace is given to repentant sinners so please hear my prayers of forgiveness as I call out to you today.

Thanksgiving:

Thank you for wanting to dwell within me! I am grateful for your courage and sufficient strength that you provide to me and to those that are hurting and crushed. I am also forever grateful for your goodness and grace, your mercy and your unconditional love. I pray that today I may glorify you in my body, words and deeds.

Supplication:

I ask you to keep me low at the cross and to gently humble me before you so I can experience your revival in my heart, spirit and mind. My desire is to seek you and your heart’s desire. Let all that I do be God-initiated and God-ordained. I pray that day by day you will shape my character to be more holy like you and that my life will reflect your great love.

Use these verses and ACTS to write your own personal prayer in your journal.

If you have a favorite hymn that calls out to our Holy One, spend quiet time worshipping in song!
