ACTS: A Way to Pray

Isaiah 6:1-8

In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called and the house was filled with smoke. And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!” Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and sin atoned for.” And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.”

Adoration:

I praise You, my God! You are Lord of all the hosts of heaven! Your tremendous glory expresses itself in the beauty of the earth, the majestic skies, the mountain peaks, lush trees, soft grass, and scented flowers, the blue-green oceans, sunshine, rain and snow. Earthquakes and volcanoes only hint at the extent of Your massive power. You are Creator of all and over all!

Confession:

I confess that my perspective is so limited. I am often oblivious as to how BIG You really are, that You are greater than all I can see or imagine. I confess, too, that I sometimes forget that Your glory and holiness are worthy of all my worship. Forgive me for allowing myself to get distracted from You.

Thanksgiving:

Thank you, God, that because Jesus died and rose again, my sin can no longer keep me from You. I am no longer barred from entering Your presence. Like Isaiah, my lips are no longer unclean. Thank you that You amazingly reside deep inside me, where I can come to You in a split second to receive Your wisdom, love, protection, answers to prayer and direction in my life.

Supplication:

I want to have the right attitude before You, Lord. Replace my selfishness with a humble heart before You. Let me get into the habit of doing Your will every day. I want it to come naturally. I want to fulfill the purpose You have given me here on earth. Help me to say, like Isaiah did: “Here I am, send me.” Lord today, Use me BIG or use me little Lord, just use me. In Jesus’ name and for the Father’s glory, Amen.

Use these verses and ACTS to write your own personal prayer in your journal.

Sisters, is there now or has there been a time where you knew God was calling you to do something or say something for Him? Would you share something about that moment in time when you were confident of what He wanted you to do? How did you feel? Were you hesitant? Was the outcome what you expected? We all grow in our faith to step into our calling when we hear stories from others.
