ACTS: A Way to Live

Wednesday, March 2

The Gospel of Luke: Lent 2022

Read Luke 3:1-18

Focus Verse—Luke 3:15

“The people were waiting expectantly and wondering in their hearts if John might possibly be the Messiah.”

ACTion for Reflection: John, the Forerunner of Christ

In Luke 3, we are introduced to John the Baptist. He was divinely appointed from birth to prepare the way for the Messiah. Everything he said and did pointed to Christ. John’s words of instruction in Luke 3 match Christ’s words and actions in the rest of Luke. For example, he said things like: share your extra tunic (v11).

In a sense, we too are like John, pointing others to Christ through our words and actions. Take a moment to think about what this means for you personally during this Lent season. How do you want to grow in Christ in these next 40 days? Journal this thought and then if you feel led, please share in the comments. My personal hope is to be more "ready and willing" to serve each day. What about you? We are on this journey together!

ACTion to Live Out: Share what you have with those in need.

An idea for today is to go through your closet or cupboard and whatever you discover as an “extra”, gather together and donate to a shelter that serves the poor.

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank you for teaching us how to live! After we daily reflect on your life-giving words, help us to then, through your Spirit, get up and ACT. Give us hearts of compassion, hands of generosity, and feet that take your good news to the world. What an honor it is to be your image bearer. Amen.
