ACTS: A Way to Live

The Gospel of Luke—Lent 2022

Hello Soul Sisters and welcome to ACTS: A Way to Live! Today and tomorrow, we introduce you to our next devotional and it aligns nicely with the dates of Lent. So, whether you observe Lent or not, we hope you will join in!

For those of you who don't know much about Lent, here is a little background information...Lent begins with Ash Wednesday (this Wednesday) is always 46 days before Easter Sunday and is a 40-day season (not counting Sundays). It is marked by prayer, fasting, reflection, and ultimately celebration. The 40-day period represents Christ’s time of temptation in the wilderness, where he fasted and where Satan tempted him. Lent asks believers to set aside a time each year for similar fasting, marking an intentional season to focus on Christ’s life, ministry, sacrifice, and resurrection. It is a time to open the doors of our hearts a little wider and understand our Lord a little deeper, so that when Good Friday and eventually Easter Sunday comes, it is not just another day at church but an invitation to taste the overflowing grace that our Lord God has to offer.

Over the next seven weeks, we will be practicing a new acronym for A.C.T.S.

A=Allow more time daily in prayer and in God’s Word.

C=Confess and repent of your sins daily.

T=Turn from an idol and turn back to God, this is the “giving up” that is personal to you.

S=Serve, Share & Shine for others, “go and do” as Jesus did.

Comment below with a YES if you are “in” for this devotional. It will be a privilege to focus on who Jesus is, what he taught and did and how we can apply it to our very own lives- a real life changer!

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank you for teaching us how to live! After we daily reflect on your life-giving words, help us to then, through your Spirit, get up and ACT. Give us hearts of compassion, hands of generosity, and feet that take your good news to the world. What an honor it is to be your image bearer. Amen.

To prepare for the Lenten study, please read or listen to Luke 1.
