A Journey with Jesus during Lent

Day 40

Matthew 28:18-20

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Today, is the conclusion of our Soul Sisters’ Lenten Study, AJourney with Jesus during Lent. However, we can’t wake up this morning without realizing that today is Good Friday, the day where we remember that terrible Friday that is called “Good” because it led to the Resurrection of our Lord, Jesus and His victory over death and sin. (This was our focus on Days 21 and 22 of our Lenten Study. And if you missed it, I encourage you to go back and read Amy Roger’s posts)

In our focus scripture today, we find Matthew’s final recorded words from Jesus. These verses are known as the Great Commission. The words Jesus shared did not only give the disciples direction, but the words also gave them comfort...They would never be alone.

Sit in that direction and comfort today. The words that Jesus shared with His disciples on that mountain in Galilee are also meant for you and me.

I’m going to challenge you in your quiet time to reflect on what today, April 7, 2023, Good Friday, represents not only in our faith, but in your personal life. How does that impact you in your calling, laid out in the Great Commission, for Christ?

Dear Jesus,

We praise You and give thanks that we get to journey with You through this season of Lent. Draw us closer to Your heart, that we might know You better. After we daily reflect on Your selflessness and life-giving Word, give us wisdom to be Your hands and feet in the world just as You intend. Give us hearts of compassion, hands of generosity, and feet that take Your good news to the world. We love You and are honored to serve you Lord, our sweet Savior. Amen.

Week 7 Act of Kindness

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32

This week, with the Holy Spirit’s prompting, do a random act of kindness for someone.
