Week 1
Peace With God
Focus of the week: Confessing our sins brings God’s peace
And I said, ”Woe is me! I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!” Isaiah 6:5
Read Isaiah 6:1-8
Can you even imagine what was going through Isaiah’s mind at the beginning of this scene? Seeing the Lord on His throne with angels attending Him. Being in the physical PRESENCE of the living God, surrounded by His Glory. Oh, to be Isaiah in this moment! It was a time when deep moral and spiritual decay had peaked and it was important for Isaiah to actually SEE His holiness. I can imagine Isaiah hit his knees pretty quickly with the weight of God’s majesty pressing on all of his senses. He knew he didn’t belong there, but by God’s grace, he WAS there. Isaiah confesses,”Woe is me, for I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips…” And then with one beautiful touch of mercy, all was forgiven for Isaiah. Because his sin was atoned for, Isaiah had PEACE with God.
We too, because of Christ, have the ability to stand in God’s presence. Scripture says, “ Through him we have also obtained access by faith into the grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” (Romans 5:2). Let these passages serve as reminders to us that our God is majestic, full of mercy and grace, and offers forgiveness every single day. We are a people just as lost as Isaiah and in need of His merciful touch. Likewise, with confession, this beautiful touch of forgiveness comes, thus creating space for peace with God to fill us. Let’s see if we can take that initial step in the peace process and come to Him in confession today.

Oh Heavenly Father, let this scene in Isaiah serve as a visual reminder of how great You are each and every day. Through Your Son we receive the majestic touch of forgiveness when we confess our sins just as Isaiah did so long ago. We praise you that through this process we can receive peace that transcends our understanding . A peace that we long for whether we realize it or not. We praise You for sending Jesus to intervene on our behalf so we can receive this gift freely. May we be bold enough to approach the throne daily with repentant hearts of confession. Amen
