Week 6

THEME FOR THE WEEK: God’s Spirit is lavished on us, in us, and through us (part 2)

God promises to be faithful to us

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

All promises are fulfilled in Christ.

Please read Matthew 28:16-20

Just before ascending in heaven, Jesus commissioned his followers to go and make disciples, of all the nations - teaching them to observe everything he had commanded them, and then he proclaimed, “remember, I am with you always to the end of the world.”

Jesus made the promise that he would to be with His disciples forever and for always. He promised to be with each one of them and his promise remains true for all who accept him as Lord and Savior today. Jesus promises to be with us to the end of the world.

He is our Good Shepherd, who is faithful to his sheep. No matter what burdens we face or situations we find ourselves in - difficult, sad, challenging - he will never leave us or forsake us. It is his faithfulness and Spirit that leads to our faithfulness to Him and to other people. Because of this connection and bond, I have started asking God to reveal specific ways in which I can be more faithful to him and spread his love and Word to those as he desires. I want to be zealous for our Good Shepherd who clearly comforts us with his faithfulness and words, “I am with you, even to the very end.” Let us go out into the world and let his never-ending light shine brightly in us and through us.

Dear Heavenly Father,Thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit and your promise to be faithful to me no matter what difficulties come my way or what evil circumstances surround me. Thank you for your reassuring presence and promise to be with me always. Give me the grace and opportunity to spread the Truth of your Word. I pray all of this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
