Forty Days of Promises -- Speak Through Us

God promises to speak through us.

Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me, “Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.” Jeremiah 1:9

All promises are fulfilled in Christ.

Please read Mark 13:3-13.

I love being given the opportunity to share Jesus with others. I enjoy piecing together a story along with scripture to share a lesson with a group of people. It’s a joy of mine! But, it hasn’t always been this way.

In my early 20’s, I felt a call on my life to do something in ministry. Somehow, I knew it would include teaching, yet I was terrified any time I was asked to speak or teach in public. Even if the group was small, I would overthink and overanalyze until I could barely form a basic outline.

Each and every time my heart and head would panic, the Lord would gently remind me that HE would give me the words to say. There was no need to fear, because HE would do the good work in and through me. Each and every time, He was faithful. When I was obedient to His call to teach, He would fill my mouth with the exact right words I needed to share.

Here’s another thing, though…. God will “speak” through you in any act of obedience. Often, we overestimate our words and seriously underestimate our loving gestures, acts of kindness, and sacrificial giving. If God has asked you to do something, do it and watch how God speaks through your obedience.

I’m amazed that God allows us to be his mouthpiece to the world. I’m humbled by the fact that He allows us to play a part in sharing His Gospel story. He could have spread this good news any way He wanted, but He chose to give us the joy of partnership.

I believe this is a message that is incredibly important during a crisis. Ladies, we have a giant opportunity to allow God to speak through us during our current pandemic; because, God will often speak through our tragedies, our struggles, and our disappointments the loudest. C.S. Lewis said,

God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pain: it is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world.

If God is waking a sleeping world, don't you want to participate? I do! He's promised to speak through us. Let's let Him!

Dear God, I’m so humbled by the fact that I get the opportunity to share Your message. Give us experiences today that call on us to follow Your leading to invest in others. We want to experience all of Your promises. And, we want to help others experience them too. Thank you for making us smarter, kinder, more loving, and more creative than we think we are. Christ in us really is the hope of glory (Col. 1:27). You are a promise keeping God, and we want everyone to know it.
