God, You Are Everywhere

“Can a man hide himself in hiding places, so I do not see him?” declares the Lord. “Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?” declares the Lord. Jeremiah 23:24

Because of all the social distancing we are required to have at the present moment, we are, basically, secluded from each other. All around the world over 8 billion people are in isolation, longing for connection yet warned to stay away from others due to the Coronavirus. So, for the most part, we stay put; we go nowhere! But we are not alone, our Heavenly Father is not a God that is in isolation and distanced from us – He is a God that is EVERYWHERE!

Our spotlight scripture tells us that God fills “the heaven and the earth.” He is everywhere. We don’t to feel alone when we are in relationship with God. In reality, there is nowhere that we can go that we will be separated from God. “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39. He surrounds us and we see the evidence of His creation all around us. We feel His power in the winds, lightning and thunder of storms. We sense His gentle touch from a spring breeze or the velvety feel of a flower’s petal. We know His purity in the smile of an infant.

God not only surrounds us, but, He fills us up on the inside. He made us temples of His Holy Spirit, and now His Presence dwells deep inside us. When God said, “Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?” He meant that He fills US, you and me, too! When I think about this, I am awed and overwhelmed with praise to God who loved me so much that He was willing to place a part of Himself in me—to protect me, to teach me, to lift me spiritually so that I can connect with Him any time of the day or night no matter where I am or who I am with!

How reassuring it is that our God is everywhere! We are never alone—even if everyone we knew were to abandon us, God would still be with us, holding us in His strong arms, comforting us, being our family, our closest friend and companion, offering wisdom and showering us with His love and blessings. Jesus told his disciples: “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.” John 14:16-18, That same Spirit of Truth resides in you and me.

Praise Jesus that the truth is not always in the appearance of things. It may appear that this current state of our world is unexpected, but the truth is that God is not surprised by this. It may appear that the sky is falling but the truth is that the same God that created the universe is still in control. And, it may appear that you by yourself in isolation, but the truth is, Sister, that God is everywhere, and you are never alone!

God, You are Everywhere! You surround me and fill me up! I love that as your child, I can boldly go before Your throne anytime of the day or night. and I am in Your Presence. I love that no matter the crisis or the chaos that I am facing – You will not distance Yourself from me. Your Love and Your Presence overwhelm me and constantly reassure me that I am Yours.
