40 Days of Prayer
Day 35
Read: Ephesians 3: 14-21
For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through the Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power together with all the Lord's holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge -- that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.
This is definitely one of the most powerful prayers recorded in the Bible in my opinion. Paul was boldly praying for the church at Ephesus to KNOW and understand God's character. Once he'd prayed for that, he changed gears and began to remind the Ephesians WHO it was that they were praying to.... THE God that could do more than they could even imagine.
That's a LOT!
I don't know that there's much I need to add to Kit's commentary today. Have you put caps and limits on your requests for God? Have you boxed in the God who is FREE to move in your life in powerful ways?
I sure have. Let's do what Kit has asked us to do. Let spend the day making lists. Let's dream again! Let your imagination run wild, because no matter what we come up with, He is capable of much, much more.
Several years ago, I was asked a simple question, "What would you do if you weren't afraid?" I will never forget that question, because it really caused me to stop and think beyond my limitations. Today, I'm asking you what you'd pray for if you weren't afraid. Let's dream again and then pray your giant list to the God who owns the cattle on a thousand hills. (Psalm 50:10)
Dear God, I don't know why I limit myself when I'm praying to you. I can't understand why I'd censor myself in dialogue with you. You've certainly demonstrated to me time and again that You are able to do so much more than I'm expecting. Today, remove the veil from our eyes. Help us to see clearly what is right around us and prepare us for the immeasurable greatness that is surely on its way. We want to follow you fully.
