Mary Did You Know

Luke 2:16-19

And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. But Mary treasured all these things, pondering them in her heart.

Lyrics

"Mary did you know that your baby boy would one day walk on water? Mary did you know that your baby boy would save our sons and daughters? Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new? This child that you've delivered, will soon deliver you.

Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man? Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand? Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod? When you kiss your little baby, you kiss the face of God.

The blind will see, the deaf will hear, the dead will live again The lame will leap, the dumb will speak, the praises of the lamb.

Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation? Mary did you know that your baby boy would one day rule the nations? Did you know that your baby boy is heaven's perfect lamb? That sleeping child you're holding is the great I am!"

“Mary, Did You Know?” was written in 1984 by Mark Lowry, a Christian singer, songwriter and comedian…(When interviewed about the song, he said), “As my mind went back to the manger scene, I began to think about the power, authority and majesty she cradled in her arms. Those little lips were the same lips that had spoken worlds into existence. All of those things were contained in the young child lying quietly on her bosom. Even now, he was the very one who had given life to his mother, Mary.” (St.Augustine.com/lifestyle)

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for the gift of Jesus. When I think of the birth of Christ and how Mary must have felt to be holding the future in her arms, I am amazed. Lord, thank You for holding our futures in your arms...thank you for the birth of Baby Jesus. Thank you for the miracles of Jesus carried to grow our faith, not only during his lifetime, but today as well. May we live out in our every day lives the type of life he led by showing love to all we meet. In Jesus' name. Amen
