Grateful for Growth:  Relying on the Holy Spirit

Grateful for Growth: Relying on the Holy Spirit

"And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us." 1 Corinthians 2:12

Life is so full of distractions. For me, even my walk with the Lord can create more distractions. I sincerely desire to be obedient to the God who laid down his life for me because of how deeply He loves me. However, God has shown me that I am to be so reliant on Him that even my obedience can't be true obedience without HIS power through the Holy Spirit. It is through the Spirit that I gain knowledge, boldness, wisdom, power, strength, perseverance, and LIFE. God has been teaching me that the things He commands me to do can and will be done through the Spirit- not purely from my diligence. As I pursue God to know Him more, as I look for opportunities to share the gospel, as I lead others through the Word, or even as I wake up in the morning, I can be assured that it is not up to me and my abilities-it is totally by the Spirit! I am encouraged to rest in the Lord, pray that He would use His Spirit mightily in me, and empty myself of my human thinking and distracted thoughts.

Lord empty me of my thoughts that cloud my mind of your truths. Teach me to rest in the power and grace of your Spirit within me and let that Spirit be my guide every day in His boldness and wisdom. Thank you for inhabiting me with such an incredible part of yourself.
