WE GO

Thursday, May 30, 2019

Submitted on behalf of Patricia Poole

We are each His beautiful vessel, called to pour out the light and love of Christ; therefore, WE GO...

“So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.” Romans 12:1-2 MSG

There have been many times in my life where I’ve been called to go, to respond, to deploy, to run the race that our Lord has asked. My responsibility is to bring hope and peace, a touch of love, the presence of Jesus to the situation. These victims are our brothers and sisters. Their lives have been turned upside down, literally. Some have experienced severe trauma, losing everything they own. Or the extreme has happened, a precious life has perished. Such devastation and chaos caused by a natural disaster. Many of times, I have found myself sitting or standing alongside them. Listening, hearing what once was and is now a memory. How do I bring Shalom (God’s peace in such chaos)? It’s simple, I just show up and perform an act of love, because loves does, because love is Jesus. My most recent call was a few weeks ago…to Israel! I didn’t ask a bunch of questions. Trusting, I just said yes. My word for 2019 is TRUST= Batach. Many family members and friends thought I was “crazy”. (My thoughts regarding “crazy”- normal can be dull.) Personally, I wanted to return back to the city of Jerusalem, the country Israel. I’ve come to love this place. I feel such peace there. I do feel like it’s my home away from home. It’s written; “it is our home, we the Gentiles are grafted in.”

On this particular calling, once again I had the privilege to share a touch of love with a young family. This time it’s with a young mother who’s battling breast cancer and praying for a miracle. They’re a very young ACTIVE family, 5 children between the ages of 10 and 2. (Note to self:, this is why we birth children at a younger age) It was such a blessing, a wonderful life experience with the Sheety family. To serve along with Jesus in the Holy Land, was a highlight! Being obedient and answering “YES” to this calling has blessed me personally. It was my deep desire to be awakened in my faith… a fresh understanding of who God is and who He says I am. Last Monday I was walking the streets in Jerusalem. To think I stood, sat and prayed in the places where Jesus did! How did this happen? I just said “Yes”.

A few more thoughts….the Lord has asked us to come alongside Him. “Come” in many languages means to be obedient and trust. Yes, it could and will require us to step out to new ground, to unfamiliar places, situations or circumstances. But, know this to be true, my sisters, He does go before us. He does lead us. Sisters, we all are qualified for this race. We are to stay in our lane, we all are unique. Keep our eyes focused on Jesus. He needs each and every one of us. So, let’s use our gifts to bring glory to our Heavenly Father who loves us. One of my prayers as I begin to journey “out and about” is for the Holy Spirit to go before me, to watch, protect and lead me. I go knowing that I am protected by the blood of Jesus. This gives me the courage that I need to go and to be His hands and feet. I’m here to share and remind you that... His light needs to be taken into dark places. The way you see the world shifts in the light of His love.

Thank you for loving me and trusting me with these life experiences. I may never see the final outcome of Your will being done or my prayers being answered. Yet, I have felt Your presence, You illuminate in the darkest places. I work for you; I rest in you, Lord. You are the Vine and I am the branch. You are the Vine, because the Father loved you, and poured His love through you. So You love me, and my life as a branch is to be like Yours receiving and giving out of heavenly love. May I be truly alive and willing to take the risk to say “YES” to share love, compassion and mercy that You so gracefully have shared with us.

Amen
