He Will Help You Understand, Seeing Him Face to Face

They WILL see His face, and His name WILL be on their foreheads. Revelation 22:4

One of my favorite passages of scripture to pray over myself, my family, my friends, and my co-workers is Ephesians 1:18-19; "I pray that the eyes of your hearts may be enlightened so that you may KNOW the hope of your calling, what are the riches of of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe." I like to regularly pray this prayer, because I know that I can't fully know and understand unless God uncovers my eyes. I ask for spiritual vision daily.

And, I truly believe that He grants that kind of understanding. With Jesus Christ living in me (through the presence of the Holy Spirit), I can honestly say there have been times when I've seen and understood things that I couldn't have seen and understood without His intervention. I can't say thank you enough for His wisdom imparted to man.

If I'm honest, though, I also get frustrated by things I can't, or don't understand:

-- Why did my dear friend and her very young children lose their husband and father to cancer way too soon?

-- How can God continue to let children be hurt, abused, and even killed by the adults that should care for them?

--When will God move against those who hold high positions in His Church, who use their positions to harm others?

--Why doesn't He step in and stop sin before it wrecks homes and families. He could do it! Why doesn't He choose to.

I could probably list 1,000 more questions. Our hearts are full of them, because we weren't created for this kind of brokenness. We were created in the image of God to be image carriers of God. We want more than this world has to offer us, because we weren't made for this world. We were made by Him and for Him, and He is PERFECT!

There will come a day for all of us when we close our eyes on earth and open them in Heaven. I fully believe we will look into the eyes of our Father and our Savior, and we will immediately understand how and why and where and what! All of the questions we've ever had will be answered in a blink.

Yes, we have to wait for the fullness of this knowledge. But, we do NOT have to wait to enjoy the promise of it. He has the answers. He is perfectly involved and watching over every circumstance that you're in. And, He is GOOD! If He's allowing something confusing to wreak havoc in your life, He has a plan to work it out for good.... your good! Confess that truth to Him today and watch Him fill your anxious heart with His peace. He will do it, because He said so!

Heavenly Father, we KNOW that You know our circumstances. We trust that You are working them out for our good and that we'll be able to use these experiences to share YOU with other people. One day, our questions will be gone. We will look You in the face and our hearts will be free to understand all the details. Until then, God, help us to live with joy in the moment. Help us to live lives that trust Your goodness even in uncertainty. We thank you for Your understanding.... the glimpses of Heaven we get to see NOW and the perfection of Heaven that we will see later.
