He WILL Help You in Future Days

Week 4: The I AM says HE WILL HELP Day 2: He WILL help you in future days.

VERSE Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He WILL make your paths straight.

“Tomorrow! Tomorrow! I love ya, Tomorrow! You’re always a day away.” I can just hear Annie (and Missy) singing those words right now. Whether you are feeling down today, anxious over what’s in store for tomorrow or excited about the possibilities or events of the future, you can hang on to God’s Words that His plans for you are good every day….not only in the present, like we reflected on yesterday but also, tomorrow and forever.

We’re just like children learning basic math, addition and subtraction, compared to a college professor teaching advanced formulas that are a mile long. We’re just thinking simple thoughts, like 1 + 2 = 3. We can’t possibly understand how our All-Knowing God works or how He gets the results that He does. This is where we trust in Him, Our Professor, that He knows what He is doing and that He will teach us our next step when we obey Him. We must claim God’s promise of Proverbs 3:5-6 and trust in Him with our future. He will help us get to where we’re going.

In Psalm 31 David testifies his trust in God and acknowledges Him as his rock and his fortress (v. 3). Even though David is in distress and feels forgotten, he says, “But I trust in you, O Lord; I say, You are my God. My times are in your hands; deliver me from my enemies and from those who pursue me” (vs. 14-15). We must also trust that God has each day in His hands. There is no need to worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34). God knows how our future will unfold. He will help us through each tomorrow. He WILL do it, because He said so.

FURTHER: Psalm 25:4-7; Psalm 31:14-15; Jeremiah 29:11-13; Matthew 6:25-34; Job 23:10

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for each and every day you give me and help me through. Your Word tells us that Your divine goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life (Psalm 23:6). I ask your continued favor and protection as I walk into the unknown of my future. I know that you take care of the birds and you’ll take care of me. I know I shouldn’t worry about what to eat, drink or wear. Life is so much more than that! So, today I just ask that you “Show me your ways, teach me your paths, guide me in your truth and teach me, sweet Professor and Savior, the path I need for tomorrow. I love you and put my hope in you all day long!

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen
