Week 4: HE WILL HELP

Week 4: HE WLL HELP

Monday, March 25th: He will help you in the present day.

Verse: Psalm 32:8

I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go. I WILL counsel you with my eye upon you.

Post: The Life Application Bible's commentary on this particular scripture says:

God describes people as being like horses or mules that have to be controlled by bits an bridles. Other than letting God guide them step by step, they stubbornly leave God only one option. If God wants to keep them useful for Him, He must use discipline and punishment.

Does this apply to you in anyway? I'm actually laughing as I pose that question because I know it does. There are some days that I can feel the stubborness in my soul and see it in my actions. For those of us who are parents, I bet we are all too familiar with how this looks on a child. There are many situations where If we weren't there to guide a toddler step by step, the results could be devastating. Just like horses and mules, we humans begin life needing to be guided in order to be safe, successful, and to survive.

I have the privilege three days a week to walk and pray with my friend Chris Baxter. Many days as we walk our familiar route one of us will blurt out a big" BAAAAAAH". This helpless sound signifies a poor little lost sheep that has gone astray and has no idea how to get back on track. I recently read that sheep don't comfortably lie on their backs. A sheep with wet and heavy fleece, or that is heavily pregnant or fat, is more likely at risk of becoming stuck if it rolls over. This can result in possible death if they don't get the help they need to" right" themselves. It is by no mistake that we are referred to over and over again as sheep in the Bible. The scripture above says He will instruct, teach, and counsel us AND keep and eye on us. This help is not just for the big things, it applies to each and every little decision we make , should we choose to ask. Our God is one that is concerned with the most minute details in our lives as well as the really big picture. God longs to guide us with love and wisdom rather than punishment. He offers to teach us the 'best" way to go about everything we do. Our job is to submit ourselves and walk with Him all day long. He will guide the stubborn mules and right His helpless little sheep every step of the way. He WILL do it because He says so.

Today, I want to be present and aware of every little decision I am faced with. I want to dialog with Him and allow His guidance to infuse me rather than my stubbornness. At the end of the day I want to take inventory of what this day looked like and reflect on His presence in my life. Maybe this is something you would like to join me in. Let's see Him in our every breath today.

Additional scripture: Psalm 16:7; Psalm 119:105; Isaiah 41:10; Isaiah 43:1-2.

Heavenly Father, we are completely lost without You and all to often don't even recognize this, Today, make us aware of how intricately You are involved in the big and little. Open our eyes to the fact that Your way is always better than our way as we go about our daily activities. Give us hearts to follow and to be useful to You in that way You desire. Please let us see that there is nothing to small and unimportant in our lives that You don't want to be apart of. Help us keep our minds stayed on You as we make every decision Thank You for rescuing us when we go astray. Amen.
