Forty Days of Proclamation

Eunice Glick

Faithfulness

“But my God will supply all your needs according to his riches in Christ Jesus. Philippines 4:19

The conversation that began was nothing new. My husband was concerned about our finances. We had house taxes due and they had increased from last year. Then I remembered a story that my mother told me before she died. In 1921 my mother, uncle, grandfather, grandmother, and aunt arrived in Ellis Island from Istanbul, Turkey. My grandfather was a successful insurance salesman and jeweler, but to protect his family from the Turkish massacre, they fled Turkey and arrived in New York on May 18, 1921. They stayed with cousins in Richmond Hills, New York and my grandfather, at the age of 50, looked everywhere for work. My cousin asked my grandmother, when they had $200 in savings, what they planned to do when their money ran out. My grandmother said: “God will provide.” And provide He did! Through the Congregational Church of Richmond Hills, my grandfather was introduced to Hannibal Ford, President of Ford Instrument Company. On July 3, 1921 my grandfather began working faithfully for almost 25 years. My grandmother’s words ring true today and give me comfort and peace. We know that God provided for my grandparents and He will provide for our family.

God is faithful. He cares about our every need.

Father, we thank you for your faithfulness and provision. We ask that our faith may increase and that we may continue to put our trust in you.
