Made For This -- "The Tailor"

In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:6

Please read pages 204 through 207 in Made For This. Once you've read and journaled some of your thoughts from this section, continue on through pages 208 through 209.

I can't tell you how perfect this lesson is for today. For 5 1/2 months, I've been leading a group of preschool teachers during a pandemic. Our center has remained open while most of the world has shut down. It was the right thing to do. We serve parents that needed to work, so their children needed safety and stability.

But, it has been hard, and scary, and emotional. It may sound like I'm being dramatic when I say that my brain doesn't even process correctly anymore. Everything is slower, because every decision is different than it's been before. About halfway through these 5 1/2 months, I had to fully surrender to the Lord and His Spirit's leading in my life. I simply hadn't been trained for this. Jennie said it best,

We need God when we are restless, bored, numb, cold, selfish, or distracted (I'll add lost, uncertain, and unprepared). It won't be some great vision that will fill our souls, it will be the Spirit of the living God and Him alone.

Today, we will welcome the elementary and upper school teachers back to our campus where we've decided to offer on campus classes only. It will be a year like no other as we scatter children and rearrange classes. But, we serve a God that is the same yesterday, today, and forever. None of this has caught Him off guard. So, this week, I'll encourage and instruct teachers to pursue the Tailor. He is always best recognized in difficulty.

Maybe you are facing a different kind of dependence today. Lean in and trust Him. He's doing something in each of us, ladies. Talk to God about your need for Him today. Maybe, like me, you want to make a list of all the different ways you need Him. I promise, gratitude will soon follow your need. He's always faithful, so we can always be thankful.

Jesus, selfishly I want to steal the prayer time today to lift up every, single teacher and administrator. We can't know what we are doing in times like these. But, we've been called to teach regardless of the circumstances. Be our strength, our wisdom, and our guide. Rise up with the answers we need to the point that we are shocked by how loudly You instruct. We need You and we know it. Thank you for tailoring our lives perfectly for our calling. Your goodness is astounding!
