"For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him." 2 Chronicles 16:9
This world can be a battle field and without divine help there can be much suffering, defeat and shame. Even in the midst of our own battles and the ugliness going on all around, we need to put our trust in God for His help and support. As we plan our actions he wants us to come to him first. He graciously provides his wisdom to guide us, his arm to strengthen us, his power to protect us. We should always turn to and “rest in the God who saves without the need of a sword or a spear” (1 Samuel 17:47).
Just like the sinful women who came running to Jesus, washed his feet with her tears and her hair and then anointed him with expensive perfume, we too must recognize our sins and approach our God with a humble heart. He supports us and wants us to turn and run to him. We need to bring all we have and lay it at the foot of Jesus….bring the tears, fears, sins, thoughts and plans to Him. Seek his forgiveness, will and way. He WILL be there for us. When I reflect on God’s promise of support, I think it is one of the most comforting truths revealed in the Word; the Mighty One always helps the weak who take refuge in Him. Those who cry out “from the ends of the earth I call to you, when my heart faints. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For you have been a refuge, a strong tower against the enemy” (Psalm 61:2-3).
Strong storms of affliction come our way and try to make us look away from what’s good and right (just look at 2020 so far). We need to focus on our God who is much bigger than us and who we can’t do life without. Let’s take refuge in the one who saves and promises to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him!
