Forty Days of Promises -- Sanctify Us

God promises to sanctify us.

I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes to obey my rules.

Ezekiel 36:25-27

All promises are fulfilled in Christ.

Read: John 15:1-11.

Ladies, I'm so thankful that God has promised to sanctify us. Our hearts are in desperate need of sanctification. I don't know about you, but I've been reminded over and over this week that the heart of humanity is in serious need of a cleaning.

It's easy to point fingers, to justify actions, or to dismiss the hurt because we don't understand it. It's harder to look internally to see if my own humanity has caused me to do harm in trying to do good or to be the problem because I've not looked for ways to be the solution.

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control are OURS in Christ Jesus. In Him, we CAN exhibit this fruit to the world. As followers of Him, we MUST.

Often, I don't feel led to write out my own words of commentary for these posts. This is one of those days. We need Jesus, girls. We need the Word that became flesh and walked among us. Because of that, I'm going to provide the scripture for further reading and ask you to read with an open heart. As you do, as I do, let's ask Jesus to show us one specific thing we can each do today to spread the fruit of His Spirit. Allowing Jesus to clean up our hearts will be the first step to changing our world. I just want to be part of the solution, and I know I can't without God's daily sanctification of my heart.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 2 Corinthians 5:17

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20

So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life -- your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life -- and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily understand what he wants from you and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. Romans 12:1-2

Sanctify them in truth; Your word is truth. John 17:17

God, what can we say.... We NEED You! We need you to sanctify our hearts. Search our hearts and try us. See where there is offensiveness in each of us and lead us into Your way which is everlasting. We confess that we don't see clearly, or hear fully, or understand maturely without Your help. We want it! Change us from the inside out. For all the places where we don't want change and sanctification, God, I ask that You'd change our wants. Give us what we need. We NEED You! Pour out an extra dose of Your Spirit today.
