THEME OF THE WEEK: GOD WALKS WITH US IN OUR DAILY LIFE
God promises to give us COMPASSION Therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you, and therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; how blessed are all those who long for Him. Isaiah 30:18
ALL PROMISES ARE FULLFILLED IN CHRIST
Please read John 11: 28-37
What a miraculous Bible story this is - Jesus raises a four day old dead man to life - a story not to be overlooked especially when we are wrestling with those moments of unbelief. There He is, our Jesus who steps in and does something no other is capable of which quickly turns our unbelief into belief. However for today, we are going to take a different look at this story. It’s miraculous to me that Jesus knows each and everyone of us so intimately down to knowing exactly what we need when we need it. He knows us better than our parents, siblings, or spouses know us. He knows us more intimately than we know ourselves. The Lord always deals with us according to our personalities to teach us what we need to know. Yes, He really does knows us that well.
When He encountered Mary He knew she needed to feel His compassion and she would later glorify Him because He entered into her sorrow.
John 11: 35 simply states,”Jesus wept”. This Man/God who has the power to raise the dead and move mountains wept out of compassion that stems from a deep love for human kind. The fact that Jesus is fully man means He can identify and sympathize with our problems. The fact that He is fully God means that He is sovereign over and can help with them. He is the God that made us and is full of compassion towards us (Psalm 203:13-24). Jesus’ humanity qualifies His to sympathize with us (Hebrews 4:15).
With the devastation this pandemic is causing, this is a time we collectively need to feel the promise of compassion. He is indeed part man and understands our grief, sadness, fear, anxiety, and anger that all the various scenarios have initiated. He knows your personality and just what You need each minute. He will use even the devastating things for His glory. Just as He walked on earth with family and friends He loved deeply , He walks with us each step of the way today . Don’t let the knowledge of this promise escape you. Look for it in scripture and know it’s as true today as it was in ancient times. Let’s lean in and remember, “He waits on high to have compassion for you”.

Father God, we come to our knees crying out knowing You actually sympathize with our problems for the day. What a gift it is to us to know You understand. You walked on earth as man knowing what human emotions are and You are the God that is sovereign over them. Help us to not forget that. Thank You for wrapping Your loving arms around us when we are hurting .You love is like no other. It’s nothing less than a miracle that we can come to you anytime and expect compassion that is exactly what we need every minute of the day. Amen .
