Forty Days of Praise: Faithful

The Heartbeat of God, page 37

And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat upon it is called Faithful and True. Revelation 19:11

How great it is to know that faithfulness is one of God’s unchanging attributes. Faith in Him to always be who He says He is (unchanging), provides us with hope. Although we will change and the seasons of our lives change, our faithful God continues to have us wrapped in His arms and He continues to be the same. He gives us salvation and He won’t change His mind. He is the Sovereign Ruler of the universe and we never have to fear that our world is out of His control. Since we belong to Him through Christ, He will never forget, neglect, or abandon us. These are certainly hopeful words to read anytime but especially when we are in times of trouble navigating unchartered waters.

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen” Hebrews 11:1. This definition means simply believing is something you cannot see. I think there is an ebb and flow for all of us in our walk of faith. Somedays we feel more “faith like" than others. The good news is even though we waver, He does NOT. I’m going to list some verses I find strengthening to refer to when my faith tank is running on low or bordering on completely empty . Nothing is more fortifying than His word:

Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations…

Psalm 36:5 Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds.

Lamentations 3:22-23 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

2 Timothy 2:13 If we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself.

2 Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, and he will strength you and protect you from the evil one.

I don’t know your circumstances today. I don't know if you are in that hopeless place where you just can’t see any way out. I can’t promise God will answer your pleading prayer the way your logical mind thinks He should. However, no matter how things turn out for you, with God there is always hope. He can take our wrongs and turn them into His rights. Look to Him ladies, for He is the One who has the power to transform and redeem our lives now and forever.

God, You are faithful. How great it is that life now and forever doesn’t depend on our abilities but rather on You who is Sovereign, Strong, and always remains the Same. Lord, thank You for Your faithfulness to save us from the fate we all deserve. Thank You that we don't have to be anything we are not capable of being for we have the One who is everything we need. Thank You for loving us where we are unloveable. Thank You that You are always accessible through Your Word and Your Spirit . Lord, even though we waver in our emotions and our walk with You, thank You that You never abandon us. Amen
