"The wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23
Heartbeat of God: p. 264
It’s the first week after Easter. Lent is over. The Easter eggs have all been found (hopefully); and online church/virtual services proclaiming our Risen Lord were just days ago. Easter Sunday has come and gone. Although the single day of resurrection recognition and celebration is in the past, the celebration of the gift we received should be continuous. Let’s keep the praise and worship going. We should remain thankful throughout the year for our Gift Giver, who gave of Himself- life, death and resurrection- for the ultimate GIFT of our life eternal.
His Word reassures us that the gift we received is with us now and will remain with us forever. The love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Through His gift we receive love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Through His gift we receive all things good and right.
Our hearts have been flooded with the love of God. Now, we are called to graciously gift His love to others. It’s the gift that keeps giving!! Gift-giving by us, at any time of year imitates the love and grace of our Heavenly Father. Let’s not wait until a birthday, Christmas or Hallmark holiday to give a gift. Give and give generously as God directs. Listen to your heart.
Our Gift Giver desires for us to spread love out into the world, not just to those we know. Luke 6:32-36 says to “love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back.” Remember, God who gave us His Son, is the Gift-Giving model. Let us be obedient and take His lead. Love and love big to ALL.

God, You are the true Gift Giver. Thanks be to you for your indescribable gift. I am grateful that you came so that we might have life and have it abundantly. May your gift of the Holy Spirit flow through me so that I may share your gifts with everyone you intend. I ask this in your son’s precious name. Amen
