"I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you." Psalm 32:8
The Heartbeat of God: p. 337
Before a counselor can even begin to help anyone with their pain, struggles, concerns, etc. the counselor first needs to understand the person’s true need. That’s exactly what we have in God. He is a Wonderful Counselor who not only created us, walked the earth as a human, but also lives in us as the ever-living spirit today. He truly knows AND understands our every need.
Our Counselor helps us with our problems and can lead us to security, satisfaction, and joy. He does this through His Word and prayer. He also provides advisers and good (Christian) counselors who can help guide us. But most of all, He reassures us that because of who He is, He helps us out in ways that go far beyond our ability to understand.
Also keep in mind that our true Counselor will always listen and direct us with no judgement. One of the best examples of this is his ministry to the Samaritan woman at the well. Even though Jesus was thirsty, he focused on her deeper thirst. He saw that she was worn down by her sin, shame and rejection. He had powerful, life-changing insight to share, but he shared it gently so that she could receive it. Praises for the mighty God and Counselor the Samaritan woman had back then and that we still have today.

God, You are my Counselor. I pray that I seek you and search you will all my heart. I praise you and claim your trustworthy promise that when I seek, I will find you. For in you are all hidden treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I am forever grateful for your direction on how to live this life in the midst of struggles, pain and uncertainties. I want to live just as you intend. Nothing more. Nothing less. All according to your word.
In your son’s name I pray.
