Humble yourselves…casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:6-7
Heartbeat of God p. 49
More than likely, you’ve been a caregiver at one time or another. Maybe you cared for an elderly parent, ill family member, lonely neighbor, ailing patient or someone else in need. Perhaps you are still in the midst of providing care for others. If so, you know it takes compassion, kindness, patience, gentleness, humility, courage, strength, forgiveness and love to serve others. And, when someone is caring for others, they are selfless. We can be forever grateful to our Lord for leading by example by the way He cares for all of His children.
Another caregiver example from the Bible, that always moves me is Ruth. She took it upon herself to take care of her mother-in-law, Naomi, which meant giving up everything that was near and dear to her in her home city, Moab, and moving to Bethlehem, an unfamiliar place. To provide for their needs, Ruth had to go out into the fields to pick up leftover grain. Can’t you imagine how exhausting that was for her?
You may be experiencing the exhaustion and fatigue from caregiving right now. If so, please trust that God cares. He will provide for your needs, even beyond what you are experiencing physically. He did it for Ruth and He will do it for you.
The good news is that our Father in heaven never gets fatigued or tired of taking care of us. He never forgets a single sparrow; and we are worth more than sparrows (Matthew 10:31). This is our God who takes care of us and our every need. Sometimes we may not recognize that it is God who is caring for us because we think that the nice gesture that someone did for us was simply a random act of kindness. Or, we may think the word of encouragement we received from someone at just the right time was coincidence; but indeed, it was God who knew what we needed and orchestrated the whole thing. Big or small, our God cares. He provides.

God, You are the Caregiver of all. I am down on my knees praising you as the one true example for caring for others. We praise you for your understanding of our needs and your never-ending provisions. You know everything we are going through, physically, emotionally and spiritually. You know all!! Help us to trust in you as you care for us daily.
In Your Son’s name I pray. Amen
