Forty Days of Prayer - Day Eleven

Forty Days of Prayer - Day Eleven

"Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of righteous person is powerful and effective." (James 5: 13-16).

I just looked the above verse up in The Message version. "...Believing-prayer will heal you, and Jesus will put you on your feet. And if you've sinned, you'll be forgiven--healed inside and out."(James 5:14-15). WOW. That is miraculous and so very clear. Prayer heals. You will be forgiven and healed inside and out.

Kit says today that Elijah was a man just like us. He was tempted, he got sick, he got scared, he had times of weakness and sin, he strayed . All of these things should be familiar because they ARE us. This man who was written about in the Bible for all the world to read about for countless generations was just like us!  The only difference  maybe his genuine faith! My question would be, if we are people just like Elijah and we have genuine faith, why would God not answer our impossible prayers? Prayer indeed changed his circumstances. But Elijah had to ask those prayers with faith first.

Kit goes on to say if we have issues (and you KNOW we do), pick up the phone and call your prayer partner. This advice is part our focus verse. There is power in prayer, ladies and If you ask the Lord to send you someone to pray with, He will. Our prayers are part of God's healing process. That is why God often waits for our prayers of faith before He intervenes. Matthew 18:20 says ,”For when two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Phone a friend and talk with the One that hears, helps, and heals.  He can handle it. Kit tells us He loves it when we call on Him in the midst of a storm, or in the heat of a raging battle, or in the middle or a “faith” drought.

What about you? Do you want Jesus to put you on your feet, forgive you and heal you inside and out? If so ,you have nothing to loose if you ask but everything to loose if you don’t. So let's keep up those impossible prayers. God moves when you move.

Oh Good and Gracious God,  please forgive our doubt. Help us to fully embrace this idea of bringing our impossible prayers to you just as Elijah did. Increase our faith in the One and Only that hears and heals. Give us the desire to fervently pray with full faith knowing You are far bigger than we can even imagine. Give us another that can pray in faith with us and please bless that union . May we walk in faith expectantly towards You each day. Amen
