Grateful for Growth - In His Word

Grateful for Growth

I have grown in understanding that God’s Word is active, is for me and teaches me about Him, His will and His way.

Joshua 1:8-9

“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

I have loved the Lord since I was a little girl. I grew up going to church and hearing from others how good our God is. Later in life I started reading the Bible. I read it from cover to cover, beginning to end. It was just a few years ago that I learned the importance of being in God’s Word daily and abiding in Him. I learned that when I needed to hear God’s direction, I better be looking into scripture for what to do next. If I wanted to hear a Word, I needed to be in His Word.

While reading the book, Open Your Bible by Raechel Myers and Amanda Bible Williams, it became apparent to me that I needed to do more than just pick up my Bible in the morning. I needed to do more than read the Bible out of obligation or as a check-mark for my day. I needed to open the Bible where I can find God, His good news, steadfast love, grace and mercy for me and all His children.

The Holy Bible is filled with scripture that was purposely created, divinely inspired and given for us by God Himself. Everything we need to know about our God who created us, loves us and saved us is right there in the pages of the Bible.

It is scripture that provides teaching, correction, training in righteousness so that we may be complete, equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17). For all of these reasons (and more) I need to hear and meditate on God’s Word more than once a day. I need it day and night. I want to reflect on His truth throughout the day and before I go to sleep each night. Remaining in Him is how I get my hope, peace, comfort, direction and restoration.

I am thankful for God’s sweet words that are true and alive today. His words are indeed sweeter than honey in my mouth (Psalm 119:103).

Dear Heavenly Father,

I am forever grateful for Your living and active Word that was true a long time ago and remains true today. I ask the Holy Spirit to guide me and show the me the scripture I need to hear from sunrise to sunset. May He fill me and sustain me all to glorify Him.

I want to mediate on your words so that I will learn to apply scripture and claim your promises. I want to use your words as my GPS to provide direction that leads me straight to your heart!! Thank you for showing me the Way!!

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen
